The subjects within this field are a cornerstone to uniting nationalities, religions, ages and offer outlets for social injustices, personal growth and so much more. Newcastle Professors of Fine Art are curating Royal Academy 2020 Summer Show
Jane and Louise Wilson, joint Professors of Fine Art here at Newcastle University, are coordinating and curating the Royal Academy 2020 Summer Show. Having run since 1769, this event sees a committee of diverse artists handpick art to showcase.
Jane Wilson, who has worked in collaboration with her twin sister 1989, is also on the board of Trustees of the Tate.
Newcastle University lecturer forms folk super group of fiddle players
Catorina Macdonald’s musical talents have afforded her international acclaim. A superb performer, she’s also formed String Sisters, a prestigious international project comprised of writers and musicians.
Audiences across the globe are in awe how String Sisters blend Nordic and Celtic traditions to create a captivating, distinctive sound. With a Grammy long-listed album and a UK tour under their belts, there's no telling the heights of critical acclaim that lay before them.
Newcastle University’s Professor Jackie Kay has been recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours
Professor of Creative Writing, Jackie Kay, was awarded the CBE for services to literature in December 2019. Professor Kay was also awarded an MBE in 2006 for her services to literature and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
